Second Street and Hope is proud to sponsor Living Through Loss. This is a community of support for parents who have lost a child to overdose. In response to COVID, we took our groups online. This has allowed us to connect with and support parents all over the state of Maryland. Living Through Loss offers grief groups, seminars, community outings, and resources to parents and families affected by addiction related deaths. We are currently doing both online groups and in-person events. Our hope is that this community will support parents in the grieving process as they work toward finding life after such a devastating loss. And yes, we like to serve a meal anytime we can! If you or someone you know is interested, contact Jamie Eaton at 240-415-8981. Join our Facebook group called: Living Through Loss. Look for the little leaf icon. And for more information, visit the Living Through Loss website at www.living-through-loss.com We've also created this video that outlines some of the support and resources available to families in our area: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfhCQIMaW1o
SS&H is proud to work alongside IBM, a mentorship program in downtown Frederick. Just before the pandemic, we were beginning to build community by sharing bi-weekly meals with them. We look forward to getting back to this! We were also happy to provide a matching donation to the organization to purchase a van. Here’s a note from the CEO and lead mentor, Aje Hill: I Believe In Me would like to thank Second Street and Hope for the gracious donation toward the purchase of a 15-passenger van. Because of you, we will be able to have a more effective transportation service that will allow our mentors the opportunity to meet with our youth longer during program hours. is will give us the opportunity to inspire and challenge our youth through mental, physical, and social activities that will foster self respect and respect for the world around them. We look forward to our partnership and continuing to serve the Frederick community together. Truly appreciate all the lives you have impacted by making this investment into our youth. You are truly Hope Dealers!!!

SS&H is also proud to partner with City Youth Matrix in support of our youth in Frederick. We just completed the launch of a 4-week emotional fitness program designed to teach children about how to identify and experience emotions in an adaptive and compassionate way. We had a great time meeting with the youth weekly, discussing the instructive videos they watched, and practicing emotion regulation skills that will benefit them for life.
We currently stock an emergency food pantry for Butterfly Ridge Elementary School, and are committed to keeping it stocked with non-perishables. These items are used to support students and their families. If you'd like to donate items for the food pantry, we can accept non-perishables that are not expired. Please note that we are not able to accept any products that contain nuts.
